Baked Honey Chilly Chicken

Sugar, spice and everything nice.

The first time I tried out this amazing flavor was at Plan B, The Honey chilly hot wings. The moment you bite into a juicy piece you feel the honey on your palette after which the spice catches you by surprise. This dish is not only finger licking good but also healthy since it is baked. The sauce has a good shelf life if refrigerated and can be used as and when you like.


For the marination:

  •  1 kg chicken * you could use only wings..I’ve used the whole chicken*
  • 1/4 cup dark soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup chilly sauce
  • 2 tbs ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbs pepper powder
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tbs olive oil

For the sauce:

  • 1/2 cup chilly sauce
  • finely chopped garlic
  • 3 tbs honey
  • 2 tbs dark soy sauce
  • 3 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 tbs corn flour/ corn starch
  • 1/2 cup water


Wash the chicken thoroughly and keep aside.

Marinate the chicken with the honey, soy sauce, ginger garlic paste. Drizzle with olive oil.

*I haven’t added salt as the soy and chilly sauce will have a lot of salt content*

Keep the marinated chicken in the fridge overnight, so that the flavors catch.


For the Sauce:

Combine all the above ingredients for the sauce in a microwave or a slow flame until a smooth paste is formed. This sauce can be stored and used when desired. Heat before using.


Pre-heat the oven to 180 degree Celsius. Place the chicken in for 20 mins. Keep checking on them.

Heat the sauce and pour over the baked chicken. And there you have it! Your Honey Chilly Chicken! 😀
